Description:
Black Sapote is native to Central America. Its one of the closest tasting fruits to chocolate. Sometimes being referred as “Chocolate pudding fruit” which is a great description to what the flesh is like when ripe. They are mainly eaten fresh with a spoon when cut in half, using in baking or even blended into a delicious milkshake!
The most important thing is to wait for the fruit to ripen otherwise it can taste quite astringent. The skin of a Black Sapote is initially light green. As it ripens it will darken to a point where it looks brown and will be very soft to touch. As this stage its ready to consume.
Ripen the fruit at room temperature. Once ripe store in the fridge.
